Acceptable Use Policy

1. Overview
MailForge is a transactional email API service designed for legitimate email delivery. This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines acceptable use and prohibited activities. By using MailForge, you agree to comply with this policy. Violations may result in immediate account suspension or termination.
2. Permitted Use
MailForge is designed for sending transactional and notification emails. Permitted uses include:
- Transactional Emails: Order confirmations, shipping notifications, account alerts
- User Notifications: Password resets, email verification, two-factor authentication codes
- System Alerts: Server monitoring, security alerts, API usage notifications
- Appointment Reminders: Booking confirmations, calendar reminders
- Legal Communications: Invoices, receipts, formal notices
3. Prohibited Content
You may NOT use MailForge to send:
- Commercial Marketing Emails: Promotional offers, newsletters, advertising content (use dedicated marketing email services)
- Unsolicited Bulk Email (Spam): Mass emails to recipients who haven't opted in or requested communication
- Phishing Emails: Messages designed to trick recipients into revealing sensitive information
- Malicious Content: Emails containing viruses, trojans, or other malware
- Fraudulent Schemes: Advance-fee fraud, Ponzi schemes, or deceptive business practices
- Harassment: Repeated unwanted contact or threatening messages
- Illegal Content: Anything that violates applicable laws or regulations
- Adult Content: Sexually explicit material or pornography
- Hate Speech: Content promoting hatred or discrimination against protected groups
- Misinformation: Deliberately false or misleading content
4. Email Quality Requirements
To maintain deliverability for all users, you must:
- Send only to recipients who have explicitly opted in or have a existing relationship
- Include a clear sender identity and physical mailing address
- Provide easy unsubscribe options in all emails
- Honor unsubscribe requests within 10 business days
- Keep your email list clean and remove bounced addresses promptly
- Comply with CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and other applicable email regulations
5. API Usage Limits
Your API usage must:
- Stay within your plan's rate limits and quotas
- Not be used to circumvent spam filters or authentication systems
- Not include misleading subject lines or deceptive content
- Not attempt to harvest email addresses from our systems
6. Security Requirements
- Keep your API keys secure and rotate them regularly
- Use DKIM/SPF/DMARC authentication for all sending domains
- Verify ownership of all sending domains
- Report any security vulnerabilities to security@mailforge.dev
7. Enforcement
Violations may result in:
- Warning: Written notice for minor violations
- Temporary Suspension: Service pause pending review
- Permanent Termination: Account closure for serious or repeated violations
- Legal Action: Cooperation with law enforcement when required
